Andrew Turner now not coming to Wellow Institute this Saturday (29th March)

When confirming that Andrew is still coming to the Wellow Institute this Saturday (29th March) I received an email from Andrew's office stating:

Regrettably, due to an administrative error, Andrew has been double-booked for Saturday and unfortunately he will not be able to attend the coffee morning in Wellow. He apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

Andrew would be happy to rearrange this, perhaps during the summer recess when he has more time available.

Planning Applications Shalfleet Parish Friday 21st March 2014

Apart from the news about West Wight Alpacas in Wellow, I don't think there is anything very much of a contentious, large or commercial nature. The full list is available on the IWC website. If anyone would like to comment or discuss you are welcome to do so here on the comments below but please note, nothing here is official and official comments have to go to the Council. There is still nothing about the proposed/flagged developments at Bouldnor Mead, Shalfleet Solar panels, The Ashlar, The Warlands Partnership or the land belonging to West Wight Alpacas next to Teasel Cottage and the Millennium Green, Wellow. However, I have a letter from the IWC saying that they are expecting West Wight Alpacas to submit a new Planning Application by 24th March. That's next Monday. Assuming the application is received and valid, we should see it on the IWC website and the County Press next Friday, 28th March.

Yarmouth Surgery - Again!

So it seems that there is possibly good news on the horizon, but Yarmouth Surgery will close on 28th March, as previously announced. For those who don't have a car, check with the FYT bus as well as the Southern Vectis routes and times, especially during the Bouldnor Road closure. Back in last September I put my name down as a 'Virtual Participant' in the West Wight Medical Practice, which probably sounds far grander than it really is. For the time being, I have been sent a copy of the last Patient Participant Group meeting held on 27th February. Here are the Minutes.

Shalfleet Parish Council Meeting last Wednesday 12th March - brief update on The Ashlar and Yarmouth Surgery

The Ashlar:  Stuart Hutchinson (Ward Councillor) reported that the Planning Application has not appeared on the schedule for the next IWC Planning Meeting on 25th March so at the earliest it will happen the following month.  If you had diaried that Planning Meeting just for that item, you can scrub it.  There is still a lot of correspondence and lobbying going on.  If we hear anything I will update you on the blog.

Yarmouth Surgery:  The person now responsible from NHS England, Melanie Smoker, can be contacted also by email at melanie.smoker1@nhs.net  Melanie is Contracts Manager (Primary Care) for quite a wide area.  This week she has been down in Dorset, though she is based in Southampton and also covers Hampshire.  It was suggested by the Parish Council that folk might like to petition Melanie.  I'm not sure that's going to do much more than clog her inbox at the moment.  The next milestone is March 28th when the surgery is due to close.  As you no doubt are aware, Dr Walker said it's not impossible that extra cover could be found before the closure -- not cover from the practice, it's out of the practice's hands -- but NHS England.  Don't forget that by law there has to be consultation before this surgery can be closed for more than six months so there will be plenty of time to comment.

There were two private planning applications.
Cranleigh, Ningwood Hill -- Parish Council had some fairly minor suggestions after reading out a letter from a neighbour.  No doubt the Clerk will furnish you with the exact wording on request
Orchard Croft, Main Road, Wellow -- Parish Council had no objections.

Free Housing Loans from IW Council -- Hurry

Well....not exactly 'free' but marketeers say that the word 'free' is the most attention-seeking in the English language and if you are interested move FAST, these loans will probably go quickly.

Shalfleet Parish Council Meeting 12th March 2014 - Agenda

Here is a pdf version of next week's agenda. Note: I have posted this with scribd which allows you to view full page and/or download the agenda in pdf format to your computer. It's not shown on the agenda, but there is a rumour that there might be some Planning Applications of local interest. We will know on Friday, of course.
